BREDESEN ANNOUNCES REWARD FOR INFORMATION ON MISSING TEEN

STATE OFFERS $10,000 FOR INFORMATION ABOUT TABITHA TUDERS

September 29, 2003

Nashville, TN – After discussions with Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell and District Attorney Torry Johnson today, Governor Phil Bredesen announced the State will offer a $10,000 reward to any person or persons providing information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of any person responsible for the kidnapping or murder of Tabitha Tuders.

Tennessee Code Section 40-8-101 authorizes the Governor to offer a reward for information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of persons involved in certain criminal activities.

“ I’m pleased to be able to help with this investigation and am offering a reward as a means to assist local officials in their efforts to find Tabitha,” Bredesen said. “I hope this reward will help bring in the information needed to end this case. As the investigation moves forward, we’ll continue to keep Tabitha and her family in our thoughts and prayers.”

“ I am very thankful for Governor Bredesen’s important assistance to this investigation,” said Purcell. “All the departments involved in this case believe this can make an important difference, and the Governor’s quick action is appreciated by all Nashvillians.”

“ I’m gratified that the Governor is offering a reward, and am hopeful it will help lead to some valuable information to aid police as they work to solve this case,” Johnson said.

Nashville teen Tabitha Tuders has been missing since April 29, 2003. Anyone with information that may be of assistance in the Tabitha Tuders investigation is urged to contact the Nashville Metro Police Department’s Youth Services Division at (615) 862-7417.
