SUMMER WORLD GAMES

Graham Cash, a student at red Bank High, is one of 20 athletes from Tennessee
chosen to participate in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Dublin, Ireland. Graham
will participate in the swimming events during the games, which will be held June21- 29.
The Special Olympics World Summer Games are being dubbed as the largest
sporting event in the world for this year, according to the event organizers. There will be 166
international delegations participating in 21 sports events. The 2003 games will also showcase
the athletic abilities of some 7,000 athletes from around the world who have a learning
disability.
“We’re very proud of Graham and the hard work he’s out forth to be a part of
the Special Olympics World Summer Games,” said Red Bank Principal Wade Kelly. “he’s always
been a winner in our eyes, and we all support his efforts here at Red Bank High.”
The mission of the Special Olympics game is “to provide a unique and
unparalleled sporting and cultural experience for the athletes taking part, from Europe and all over
the world, as well as for their coaches, families, volunteers and sponsors, combining the
excitement of sports with the opportunity for personal distinction and pride.”, according to event
organizers.
Graham is the son of Larry and Sherri Cash of Signal Mountain.
