JAMIE WATKINS OF
SODDY-DAISY MISS TENNESSEE
Jamie Watkins, 23 of Soddy-Daisy was crowned Miss Tennessee 2003 during
the 51 annual Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant on June 21, 2003 her quest to become
Miss Tennessee, she received over $36,000 in scholarships. Jamie is a graduate of the University
of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocal
Music Education. While in school, she was a member of the National Golden Key Honor Society,
Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, Kappa Delta Sorority, Secretary of CMENC and
secretary of the Chattanooga Singers and Singing Mocs. Jamie is the daughter of Jerry Watkins
and Betty Watkins and has one sister, Jeri.
She begin to sing and play the piano at age 3. She has always had a passion for
music. She has used her passion over the years to help over raise over $20,000 raise for music in
the public schools.
As Miss Tennessee 2003, Jamie will represent the state as the Governor’s
spokesperson for a Safe and Drug Free Tennessee by speaking to thousands of children about the
importance of making wise choices. Jamie has volunteered with the Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (D.A.R.E.) program as a spokesperson in her hometown for the last 3 years. She
received a Distinguished Citizen Award from County Executive Claude Ramsey for her service to
the DARE program. She also received the key to the city of Soddy-Daisy from Mayor Jim
Adams.
